Blessing the Baby Jesus
The Italians have tradition of bringing their “Bambinelli”, the crib figures of the Baby Jesus, to be blessed by the Pope in St Peter’s Square on the Third Sunday of Advent, “Gaudete Sunday”. This year we invited, especially our children, to bring a crib figure of the baby Jesus to Mass on Sunday 17th December to be blessed. These blessed figurines are then taken home to be placed in people’s own nativity scenes as a symbol of the presence of Christ in our homes.
At the 9.30 Mass Fr Mark read the children the story of a young boy taking his “bambinello” to be blessed by the Pope.
