BIDDING PRAYERS:  22nd SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

Priest:             Let us offer our prayer to the Lord, the God of our ancestors, who is near to us whenever we call.

Reader:          For leaders of the Church entrusted with handing on the message of Christ, especially Francis, our Pope, John our Bishop and for our priests here in St Mary’s; may their teaching illumine God’s covenant and draw our hearts to it.

Lord hear us ……………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          For the leaders of our society; may they discern the wisdom within the teaching of the Church and not “put aside the commandment of God to cling to human traditions”.

Lord hear us ……………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          For those returning to school this week; may they begin the new term with refreshed spirit and enthusiasm, so that they may be able to grow as the people God created them to be.

Lord hear us ……………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          For those who are sick, anxious or lonely; may our community foster a spirit of faith and fellowship which reaches out to those in need to bring them comfort and peace.

Lord hear us ……………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          For vocations to the priesthood and the religious life; may people have the courage and generosity to respond to the call of God to work in his service for the spreading of the Gospel.

Reader:          Let us remember especially today (Dec’d members of the Whittle & Harrison Family Vigil Mass); (The Parish 10am Mass); (Stephen Noblett 6.30pm) for whom this Mass is offered.

And also, all the faithful departed, especially Jean Turner, and for all those who have died recently, may they be raised up on the last day.

Lord hear us ……………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          Let us pray for our own private intentions; (pause).   We ask Mary, our Mother, to intercede on our behalf: Hail Mary

Priest:             Father, hear the prayers of your family gathered before you today, both those proclaimed aloud and those held in the depths of our hearts.  We offer them all now upon your altar, through Christ Our Lord,  Amen.
