THE SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM
Baptism is the first sacrament we receive and all the other sacraments build upon that. It is a wonderful celebration of being welcomed into the family of God.
We read in the Catechism of the Catholic Church (1213):
Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word.
To arrange a Baptism please call the parish office on 01772 335168 between 2-5pm. (Mon – Fri) or send an email to the Parish Secretary: firstname.lastname@example.org
Parents are expected to attend 2 Baptism Preparation meetings with Sister Mary before a Baptism can take place. If people have not been in the practice of attending church regularly, they are asked to attend Mass for a period of six weeks prior to the Baptism to help them to be spiritually prepared for the sacrament and to get into the habit of practising the Faith.
