BIDDING PRAYERS: BAPTISM OF THE LORD

Priest:             Let us offer our intercession in the name of Jesus, the Son, the Beloved, with whom God was well pleased.

Reader:          For the Church; That the baptised people of God may witness by upright and godly lives to a communion of faith transcending all boundaries of nation and race.

Lord hear us ……………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          That Francis, our Pope, may lead us by example to set our hearts not on human insight but on divine wisdom.

Lord hear us ……………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          For the world; That in the face of violence and war, believers may speak God’s tender word of comfort and herald the salvation of God to all.

Lord hear us ……………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          That those who have strayed from their baptismal commitment may find Christ to be the shepherd who carries them safely home.

Lord hear us ……………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          For our Parish; That we who are baptised may reflect in our lives the loving kindness of God our Saviour.

Lord hear us ……………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          Let us remember especially today (Catherine Gahagan, Vigil Mass); (Michael Wareing, 9.30 am Mass); (Denis and Michael Bibby and Susan Cole, 11am Mass); (The Parish, 6.30pm) for whom this Mass is offered.

And also, all the faithful departed, especially Imelda Harrison and James Parkinson, and those who have died recently, may they be raised up on the last day.

Lord hear us ……………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          Let us pray for our own private intentions; (pause).   We ask Mary, our Mother, to join her prayers to ours: Hail Mary …

Priest:             God Our Father, hear these petitions which your people place before you on this day. May we grow in an ever deeper appreciation of his real presence among us.  We make all our prayers through Christ Our Lord, Amen.
