BIDDING PRAYERS:

SAINT PETER AND SAINT PAUL

Priest:             On this solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul, Let the church pray fervently to God in the name of Jesus of Nazareth

Reader:           That the Church, built on Peter’s faith and formed by the preaching of Paul, may be a light to the nations and the sacrament of their salvation.

Lord hear us …………….………………………Lord graciously hear us

Reader:           That the hostile powers of earth may not prevail against the gospel and all the nations that long for truth may hear the message fully proclaimed.

Lord hear us …………….………………………Lord graciously hear us

Reader:           That Pope Francis, bishop of the Church whose beginnings were consecrated by the witness of Peter and Paul, may lead us in professing our faith and inspire us in preaching the gospel.

Lord hear us …………….………………………Lord graciously hear us

Reader:           That the sick and suffering of this community may find health and healing in the name of Jesus of Nazareth

Lord hear us …………….………………………Lord graciously hear us

Reader:           May those who prepare our young people to come to the table and those who bring communion to the sick and housebound be living signs of the presence of Christ.

Lord hear us………………………………….….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:           For our Parish; That we who are the descendants in faith of Saints Peter and Paul may gladly share the salvation that is ours in the name of Jesus of Nazareth

Lord hear us …………….………………………Lord graciously hear us

Reader:           Let us remember especially today (Betty Sumner, Vigil Mass); (Margaret Livesey, 9.30 am Mass); (Francis Martland, 11.30am Mass); (the Parish, 6.30pm) for whom this Mass is offered.

And also, all the Holy Souls and all those who have died recently, (especially Joseph Dolphin, Joseph Egan and Michael Parker);  may they rest in peace and rise in glory.

Lord hear us …………….………………………Lord graciously hear us

Reader:           Let us pray for our own private intentions; (pause).   We ask Mary, our Mother, to join with us in our prayers: Hail Mary …

Priest:             Heavenly Father, your Son invoked your name in prayer while here on earth among us, we now follow his pattern and offer you these prayers.  We ask that you hear and grant them, through Christ Our Lord, Amen.
