BIDDING PRAYERS

EPIPHANY OF THE LORD

Priest:             Let us now offer intercession for our needs and those of all nations, that we will recognise the glory of the Lord shining upon us.

Reader:          For God’s Holy Church; that its light may beckon a rich diversity of peoples to come and be heirs with us, members of the one Body of Christ.

Lord hear us ……………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          For Francis, our Pope; that he may lead us by example to set our gaze, not on the stars of ambition, power or wealth but rather follow the true light which leads us find Our Lord and Saviour.

Lord hear us ……………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          For rulers of nations; may they be inspired by the Magi to seek for justice and integrity and that, in this New Year, their hearts may be open to the dawn of peace and the flourishing of righteousness.

Lord hear us ……………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          For children abused or neglected, and parents in difficulty or danger; may we as a Christian community offer our gifts of care and advocacy, intervention and support.

Lord hear us ……………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          For our parish, gathered here; that we may faithfully offer Christ:

the gold of a living faith, the incense of our worship and the myrrh of compassion for all his people, especially for those in who are most in need of our help.

Lord hear us ……………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          Let us remember especially today (Mary, Jim & Elizabeth Baldwin, Vigil Mass); (Richard & Mary Lloyd 9.30 am Mass); (Julie Elizabeth Billington, 11am Mass); (The Parish, 6.30pm) for whom this Mass is offered.

And also, all the faithful departed, especially Imelda Harrison and James Parkinson, and all those who have died recently; may they inherit eternal life.

Lord hear us ……………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          Let us pray for our own private intentions; (pause).   We ask Mary, our Mother, to join her prayers to ours: Hail Mary …

Priest:             God Our Father, hear these petitions which your people place before you on this Feast of Epiphany.  May we always seek to journey towards you where we will find the answer to our prayers.  Through Christ Our Lord, Amen.
