BIDDING PRAYERS

7TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

Priest:             As children of the Most High, we turn to him in prayer to express the needs of all people, knowing that He who is kind and full of compassion will hear our prayer.

Reader:          For the Church;   may we be a community following truly the teaching of Jesus, forsaking judgment and offering forgiveness in full measure.

Lord hear us ……………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          We pray for Pope Francis, the Cardinals and bishops of the Church as they meet in Rome at this time; may they address the difficult issues facing the church with the guidance of the Holy Spirit seeking ways to promote greater integrity and transparency in the structures of the Church.

Lord hear us ……………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          We pray for survivors of oppression and abuse; may their voices be heard and may they be given the support they require to persevere with courage in rebuilding their lives

Lord hear us ……………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          For our society; may we always seek to build a community of justice and respect for all people, whatever their culture, race or gender.

Lord hear us ……………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          For our Parish; may we respond to the challenge of the message of Christ to love our enemies, seeking to create means of reconciliation rather than clinging to established patterns of division.

Lord hear us ……………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          Let us remember especially today (Maureen Waterhouse, Vigil Mass); (Lesley Tyson, 9.30 am Mass); (The Parish 11am Mass); (Agnes Crook, 6.30pm) for whom this Mass is offered.

We also pray for all the faithful departed, especially John Rawcliffe and Mary Edith Hughes, who have died recently, may they be raised up on the last day.

Lord hear us ……………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          Let us pray for our own private intentions; (pause).   We ask Mary, our Mother, to join her prayers to ours: Hail Mary …

Priest:             God Our Father, we beseech you to hear our intercessions and help us to recognise your response to our prayers which we make through Christ Our Lord, Amen.
