BIDDING PRAYERS

5TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

Priest:             To God our Father whose glory fills heaven and earth, let us pray in the name of Christ, who came among us as our Teacher and Master

Reader:          We pray for all the leaders of our Church; may they recognise, like the prophet Isaiah, their own unworthiness in standing before the holiness of God and yet as he did, have the courage to continue to say “Here I am, send me”.

Lord hear us ……………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          Let us pray for our leaders of our country; may they be given the gifts of wisdom and understanding as they approach major decisions regarding the relationship of our country with the international community.

Lord hear us ……………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          We pray for the people of Venezuela; that all peoples of the world will support them as they seek a just and peaceful solution to the current unrest in their land.

Lord hear us ……………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          As we celebrate the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes and the World Day of Prayer for the Sick on Monday, we remember all those who are suffering from illness; may they find true wellness through the work of those who care for them and the intercession of Our Blessed Mother.

Lord hear us ……………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          For our Parish; may we not be afraid to “put out into the deep” and discover the miraculous workings of God’s abundant love

Lord hear us ……………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          Let us remember especially today (Mary, Jim & Elizabeth Baldwin, Vigil Mass); (Annie Jenkins, 9.30 am Mass); (Jimmy Parkinson, 11am Mass); (The Parish, 6.30pm) for whom this Mass is offered.

And also, all the faithful departed, (especially NN,) and those who have died recently, may they be raised up on the last day.

Lord hear us ……………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          Let us pray for our own private intentions; (pause).   We ask Mary, our Mother, to join her prayers to ours: Hail Mary …

Priest:             Almighty Father, we trust in your love. Hear our prayers in the name of Jesus our Lord and brother and grant them through your Holy Spirit. Amen.
