BIDDING PRAYERS

4TH SUNDAY OF LENT

Priest:             Let us offer our intercessions to our heavenly Father, who like the Father of the Prodigal Son, is abounding in mercy and compassion for His children.

Reader:          For the Church; that the People of God, may be built up by the challenge of prophetic voices and our ready response to God’s love for us.

Lord in your mercy ……………………………….Hear our prayer

Reader:          For leaders of our country; may they be granted courage and wisdom to discern the right way forward for our relationship to the rest of Europe and the wider world and for the common good of our people.

Lord in your mercy ……………………………….Hear our prayer

Reader:          For those affected by the cyclone in southern Africa; may we express our faith in practical ways that they may know the love of God is truly present in the face of tragic situations in our world.

Lord in your mercy ……………………………….Hear our prayer

Reader:          For the mothers of this community and all who take a mother’s role; may they be blessed and guided by God in all that they do to care for their children.

Lord in your mercy ……………………………….Hear our prayer

Reader:          For our Parish; that our common Lenten observances may see an outpouring of grace on our community, bringing people to faith and newness of life.

Lord in your mercy ……………………………….Hear our prayer

Reader:          Let us remember especially today (Tony Livesey, Vigil Mass); (Francis John and Elizabeth Dowbakin, 9.30 am Mass); (Bill Gould 11am Mass); (The Parish, 6.30pm) for whom this Mass is offered.

And also, all the faithful departed, especially Deacon Louis Livesey, and those who have died recently, may they be raised up on the last day.

Lord in your mercy ……………………………….Hear our prayer

Reader:          Let us pray for our own private intentions; (pause).   On this Mothering Sunday we ask Our Blessed Mother to intercede for us: Hail Mary …

Priest:             God Our Father, hear these petitions which your people place before you on this day. Help us to recognise your love for us, most of all through the Paschal Mystery of your Son, who lives and reigns for ever and ever Amen.
