Diocesan Pilgrimage to Ladyewell
The Salford Diocesan Pilgrimage to Ladyewell will be on Saturday, 6 September and led by Monsignor Mark Davies. The procession will be at 2 pm from St Mary’s Church on Fernyhalgh Lane. Time for Quiet Prayer, opportunity for Confessions, ending with   Benediction.   Refreshments   at   4 pm. All welcome.

Preston Old Cemetery
On Sunday, 7 September at 2 pm there will be a ceremony in Preston Old Cemetery at which a Memorial Stone will be Blessed to commemorate the re-burial of those formerly buried in the graveyard of St Augustine’s, Avenham, Preston. All welcome. See notice boards for full details.

Thank God for Football
A talk by Peter Lupson on 11 September at the National Football Museum, Preston at 7.30 pm. Nearly a third of the football clubs that have played in the FA Premiership owe their existence to a Church. Peter Lupson will speak about the founders of these clubs and shed light on the remarkable histories of some of these clubs. Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Malta Day UK
Malta Day UK 2008 will be celebrated on Saturday, 13 September with Traditional Maltese Fair in Westminster Cathedral Hall from 10 am to 2 pm; Mass in Westminster Cathedral 2.30 pm followed by   Street Procession.  Full details on the notice boards.

Open Days
There will be Open Days at St Augustine’s Parish House, St Austin’s Place, Preston on Saturday, 13th and Sunday 14th September from 2 to 4 pm. All welcome. Full details on the notice boards at the church exits.


Brownedge St Mary’s Church and Our Lady & St Patrick’s Church
Our Christmas Fayre this year will be a joint venture to be held at Brownedge High School on Saturday, 1 November 2008. We will need items for the following stalls: Tombola: General and Bottle Country Store: Jam,
Marmalade. Pickles, Lemonade, Vegetables, Plants, Christmas Cakes, Garden Items, etc. Craft Stall: All items needed, i.e. Knitting, Sewing, Woodwork, etc. Raffle Prizes: Toiletries, etc. Water & Wine Stall: 100 Bottles of Wine needed.
