BIDDING PRAYERS  SECOND SUNDAY OF ADVENT

Priest:             With the encouragement of John the Baptist we prepare a way for the Lord by offering our prayers to our Heavenly Father in hopeful expectation of His plan for our salvation.

Reader:          For the Our Holy Father Pope Francis; that, like John the Baptist he will proclaim in the wilderness of our world that we must truly prepare for the coming of Our Lord.

Lord hear us ……………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          For the people and community of St Gerard’s Lostock Hall;  may they give thanks for the service of the Benedictine community and look forward with hope to working more closely with and the parish community here at St Mary’s and the Diocese of Salford.

Lord hear us ……………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          For those exiled from their homes by violence and terror; may they soon exchange the garments of sorrow for the robes of rejoicing.

Lord hear us ……………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          For the sick and housebound of our community; may they be supported and encouraged by our prayers and our fellowship

Lord hear us ……………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          For families in our community; may the true message of Advent sustain them amidst the commercial pressures which bombard them during this time, and may our children receive what they truly need: the gift of love.

Lord hear us ……………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          Let us remember especially today (Bob Turner, Vigil Mass); (Peter Higney 9.30am Mass); (The Parish 11.00am Mass) (Jake Sanderson 6.30pm) for whom this Mass is offered.

And also, all the faithful departed, (especially NN), and for all those who have died recently, may they be raised up on the last day.

Lord hear us ……………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          Let us pray for our own private intentions; (pause).   We ask Mary, our Mother, to intercede on our behalf: Hail Mary …

Priest:             Father, in this holy season of Advent, we ask that you bestow on your people the virtue of hope as we wait expectantly for the coming of your Son, who is Lord for ever and ever,  Amen.
